Businesses encouraged to get more coolers to assist social distancing

Posted on 25th September 2020 by Phillipa ClowPosted in Hydration, News, UncategorisedLeave a Comment on Businesses encouraged to get more coolers to assist social distancing

The traditional chat around the water dispenser isn’t currently possible at the moment with the need for social distancing.   However, it is important to remind people of the benefits of healthy hydration, especially at this time when maintaining optimum health is so important.

We learn from Members that many companies are having more water dispensers in their premises – so that fewer people are using each machine.  This also encourages employees to drink more as the dispensers are more obviously placed around the premises.

For more information on maintaining your water dispensers, the WHA have issued “Essential Care of Your Water Dispenser”

As well as providing one of the healthiest hydration solutions, the water dispenser industry is also one of the most sustainable.  WHA Members are building on this and promote the industry’s sustainability credentials.

WHA Member, Purely Scottish Bottlers are showing their commitment to Pledge 5 of the WHA programme – ensuring our work places are healthy, supportive, inclusive, happy and profitable.

Living Wage Scotland are pleased to announce that Purely Scottish Bottlers Limited has become accredited as a Living Wage employer.

Their Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at Purely Scottish, regardless of whether they are direct employees or third-party contracted staff, receive a minimum hourly wage of £9.30. This rate is higher than the statutory minimum for over 25s of
£8.72 per hour introduced in April 2020.

The real Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually. The Living Wage is calculated according to the real costs of living.

David Albers – Purely Scottish – UK Commercial Director commented – “we are delighted to receive this accreditation as evidence of our support to our loyal and hardworking workforce in the rural community. We will be encouraging all our suppliers and contacts in the UK drinks industry to work towards this standard”

Employers choose to pay the real Living Wage on a voluntary basis. The Living Wage enjoys cross-party political support
